Incorporated in 1992, J. McIlvain Inc. has combined years of experience with special training, quality equipment, and business and personal integrity to provide excellent collision repair and auto body services to its customers. McIlvain Inc. is an authorized Spies Hecker paint facility whose employees have been factory trained in Spies Hecker techniques and I-Car corrosion protection. It is a member of Consumer Preferred and the NFIB (National Federation of Independent Businesses). It is also listed with Dunn & Bradstreet. We are licensed and insured and meet all of the state of Illinois requirements for auto body repair facilities. Major equipment includes HVLP paint guns, a spot welder, a wire welder, a sand blaster, a unibody pulling system, and a unibody measuring system. We offer a 5 year paint warranty that guards against paint dulling, cracking, and peeling. Body work follows the limits of the Manufacturers' warranties. We mandate OEM parts for replacement repairs.
J. McIlvain Inc. works to maintain reasonable and competitive rates while providing quality services. Current labor rates are as follows: $38/hr for body work, $38/hr for unibody work, $38/hr for frame work, $20/hr for materials. We accept all major credit cards and offer volume discounts for commercial clients. We also provide free pick up and delivery, free estimates, and complimentary car washes for the vehicles we work on.
In addition to doing collision repair for most insurance companies and on most makes and models of vehicles, J. McIlvain Inc. has done body work fabrication, paint, and graphic (paint and vinyl) on new, used and custom automobiles. We have also participated in classic car restoration and customizing projects. While a member of the International Show Car Association from '95 to '98, our projects were entered in 37 shows ( in major cities across the nation) and won 25 paint awards.

James McIlvain, owner and president of J. McIlvain Inc., is a 49 year old, seasoned veteran of auto body repair and restoration. He has been actively involved in auto body repair since February of 1971. Mr. McIlvain is experienced in all aspects of auto body repair, including estimating, painting, straightening, replacing, unibody repair, suspension repair, graphic design, and custom accessorizing. He is a Spies Hecker authorized factory-trained specialist and an I-Car corrosion protection specialist.
		With 20 years of management experience, Mr. McIlvain has developed solid management skills in the areas of staff and client relations, business and accounting practices, and overall production. He has been a successful small business owner for 16 years.
For the last 27 years, Mr. McIlvain (and his family of six) have lived in Farmer City, IL where he has continued to be active in the local commerce and community through his involvement in the annual Farmer City Heritage Days (3 year co-chairman of auto show), the Farmer City Baseball Corp. (7 years coach and 2 year secretary), the Blue Ridge Soccer Organization (3 year assistant coach, 7 year coach, 1 year United States Soccer Federation registered referee), and as a leader in his church.
